LALITPUR: Bright Future School won the title of the Golden Gate Futsal Mela Inter-school Championship here at the National Sports Centre on Thursday.
Bright Future defeated Sahara Boarding School 3-2 in the final match. Samarpan Ale Magar scored a brace and Diwas Khadka netted one goal for Bright Future, while Anish KC and Sundar Magar scored one each for Sahara. Along with the trophy, Bright Future received Rs 20,000, while Sahara got Rs 10,000 and third-placed Mahalaxmi School earned Rs 5,000.
Binod Syangtan of Mahalaxmi was declared the best striker of the tournament, while Sandesh Malla of Sahara won the best midfielder’s award. Bright Future duo Diwas Khadka and Pawan Chauhan were named the best defender and goalkeeper, while Rajiv Lama of Sahara was declared the best coach. Dipendra Lama of Divya Gyan was the highest scorer with six goals.
A total of 26 teams took part in the tournament organised by Khelpati under the sponsorship of Golden Gate International College.
Golden Gate CEO Ramesh Silwal, former national football team coach Raju Kaji Shakya, national footballer Bikram Lama, NSJF General Secretary Prakash Timalsina and Member Sarita Shrestha among others handed over the prizes to the winners.
