Lewes FC have been crunching the numbers since highlighting the disparity between men and women’s prize money in the FA Cup – and the results are in! The £2,000 earned by each of the 16 victorious women’s teams in the fourth round was dwarfed by the £180,000 each successful men’s team pocketed. The winners of the women’s Cup, for example, earn £25,000, while the men take home £3.6m.

Steven Gerrard has showered Ianis Hagi in superlatives after he scored twice to secure an extraordinary Europa League win in front of his father, Gheorghe, at Ibrox. Hagi was mustard at the European Under-21 Championship in Italy and San Marino last summer, earning a move to Genk, who loaned the Romanian to Rangers last month. The Daily Record described Rangers’ win as the ‘Daddy Of All Comebacks’. “Ianis is an outstanding talent and that stage was made for him,” said Gerrard. “It’s not just talent, it’s fight. He wants to win. It was him who provided the magic and spark to get us back into the game. The first goal is outstanding – to cut in on his left foot, which I think is his weak one.”
