Kathmandu, November 18
The National Sports Council today started the volunteer training programme for the 13th South Asian Games scheduled for December 1-10 in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Janakpur.
The NSC is mobilising 500 volunteers for the events to be held in Kathmandu. The 13th South Asian Games Secretariat Chief Kamal Khanal along with Dr Prakash Pradhan, Rukesh Tandukar, Chatura Nanda Rajvaidhya, Deepak Rai and Arjun BK are conducting the three-day programme organised by Volunteer Mobilisation Committee.
A total of 250 volunteers attended the training on the first day and others will undergo the training on Tuesday and Wednesday. The experts shed lights on security, hospitality, types of accreditation cards, discipline, and rules and regulations related to the Games. The Volunteer Mobilisation Committee will organise similar programmes in Pokhara and Janakpur.
More than 5,000 delegates including 3,250 athletes will take part in the regional meet that features 27 sports disciplines. Nepal is fielding the highest number of athletes — 648 — and is the only nation to participate in all 27 sports disciplines.
