JHAPA: Church Boys United defeated Nepal Police Club 1-0 and advanced to the final of the Annapurna Hamro Purbanchal International Gold Cup Football Tournament here at the Domalal Rajbanshi Stadium on Saturday.
Sunil Khadka scored the solitary goal of the match in the 26th minutes when he found the back of the nets in rebound after NPC goalkeeper blocked Satrudhan Chaudhary’s attempt.
NPC wasted a penalty three minutes earlier when Church Boys goalkeeper Binay Shrestha saved Suman Lama’s spot kick. NPC had earned the penalty after Church Boys skipper Bishnu Sunuwar brought down Suman Lama inside the box.
The NPC were reduced to 10 men in the 54th minute after Anja Rai was expelled for a foul against Bhuwan Basnet.
Boys United will face another departmental team, Tribhuvan Army Club in Monday’s final.
