KATHMANDU: Tej Bahadur Deuba of Nepal lost to Blasius Kali Mario of Indonesia in the third round bout of the first Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament in Bangkok on Tuesday.
Deuba, who defeated Khamphouvanh Khamsathone of Laos in the second round after receiving a bye in the first round, faced a 5-0 loss in the men’s 46-49kg weight category.
The loss also ended Nepal’s challenge in the tournament.
Out of the six boxers, Bimal Roka was the only other Nepal boxer who survived the first round elimination.
The Nepali team is currently in Thailand to prepare for the Asian Games to be held in Indonesia from August 18 to September 2.
