JHAPA: Jhapa Coordination Committee of Nepal Sports Journalists Forum on Friday announced the nominees for the third Jhapa Sports Award slated for September 30 in Birtamod.
Footballer Nawayug Shrestha was nominated in the men’s Player of the Year category along with bodybuilders Umesh Rai and Ram Dahal, while karateka Aster Rai, footballer Anjila Subba and spiker Binita Budhathoki made the cut in women’s section, informed the organisers at a press meet.
Likewise, footballer Chhiring Gurung, cricketer Apsari Begam and shuttler Amita Giri were the nominees in the youth section, while Hari Khadka (football), Damber Limbu (boxing) and Yogesh Chamling were named the nominees for Coach of the Year category. The Award also features People’s Choice and Lifetime Achievement categories.
