Dawa Sonam Sherpa won the sixth edition title of the Surya Nepal Gokarna Monthly Medal here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.
Played under stroke play full handicap format, the 15-handicap amateur golfer scored six-under 66 to claim the nett category trophy. Tendi Sherpa was second with the score of five-under 67, while Pradeep Kumar Shrestha came third at two-under 70.
Surendra Phuyal won the gross section title with the score of one-over 73, while Sadbhav Acharya carded even-par 36 to claim the junior category trophy with the score of nine-under 63 nett. A total of 26 golfers took part in the tournament sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire and Captain Joseph Nathan handed over the prizes to the winners.
After the sixth edition, Pradhmna Simkhada leads the nett section table with 170 points, while Dawa Sonam Sherpa moved to second position with 160 points. Babu Sherpa is third with 125 points, followed by Col Avaneesh Chambial (120) and Joseph Nathan (115).
In gross section, Wangchen Dhondup is at the top with 335 points, while his brother Tashi Tsering is second with 300 points. Tashi Dong is third with 165 points, followed by Vijay Shrestha Einhaus (160) and Surendra Phuyal (100). In junior section, Sadbhav Acharya extended his lead and is at top with 500 points, while Ang Phurba Sherpa is a distant second with 200 points. Mayank Dahal is third with 160 points, while Shaswat Pradhan (120) and Shreeyog Basnyat (40) are fourth and fifth respectively.
