Korean Ambassador Taekwondo begins

Lalitpur, August 25

Sanjila Timalsina on National Team won the junior girls’ section poomsae gold medal of the ninth Korean Ambassador Open National Taekwondo Championship at the Nepal Taekwondo Academy today.

Swostika Tamang of National Team came second, while her teammate Nisha Darnal and Rita Shrestha of Tribhuvan Army Club finished joint third. In boys’ section, National Team duo Asmin Raut and Krishna Bahadur Tamang claimed top two spots respectively, while Ram Gole of National Team and Sagar Baral of Chitwan came third.

In cadet girls’ section poomsae, Sandhya Lama of Koteshwor won gold medal finishing ahead of Pragati Kuinkel from Mulpani, while Supreme duo Susant Tamang and Tara Waiba came third. In boys’ section, Nishant Thing of Sagarmatha Academy came first beating Bibek Lama of Koteshwor, while Shrijal Shrestha of Godawari and Aayash Dhungel of Mulpani bagged bronze medals.

In kyorugi, Sagar Singh Thakuri of Koteshwor defeated Sujan Silwal of Maiti in junior boys’ U-42kg weight category final, while Bijaya Hogu of Kapan and Bikalpa Shahi of SOS Balgram Lumbini came joint third. In U-45kg, Sagar Magar of Dilip Memorial won gold medal beating Abtab Aalam of Birgunj, while Korma Norbu Sherpa of Chunidevi and Suraj Giri of Sitapaila were joint third.

A total of 760 players from seven provinces are taking part in the tournament organised jointly by Nepal Taekwondo Association and South Korean Embassy in Nepal. Earlier, Korean Ambassador Park Yonh-Sik and Vice-president of National Sports Council Pitamber Timsina inaugurated the four-day tournament.
