Shah sets two records

KATHMANDU: Nepali swimmer Sayed Hamza Shah broke two national records in the 7th FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary on Friday.

Shah set the new national record with the timing of 27.55 seconds in 50 butterfly heats. The previous national record was 28.25 seconds.

On Thursday, he had shattered record in 100m butterfly heats. He swam the distance in one minute and 01.22 seconds on his way to breaking the record of 01:03.43 set by Ananda Lepcha in 1989.

Also, he participated in the 100 breaststroke and completed the distance in 1:11.76.

A total of eight Nepali swimmers — four each men and women — are taking part in the championship that concludes on Sunday.
