Kathmandu, August 17
Bharat Bastakoti won the second tournament under the Carlsberg Golf Series here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.
Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, Bastakoti earned 38 points to finish first in the penultimate event of the series. SSP Rajendra Shrestha came second with 37 points. Tashi Tsering Dong bagged the gross section title with 36 points, while Maj Nischaya Jung Rayamajhi was second with 35 points.
Ashriya Banu won the women’s section trophy on count back after she was tied on 37 points with Kashmira Shah. Banu scored 19 points on the back nine after earning 18 points on the first half, while Shah scored 20 and 17 points in two halves respectively.
Brig Gen Dilip Rayamajhi lifted the senior section title with 36 points, while NB Rawal came second on count back after he was tied on 35 points with Maj Bejoy Moktan. Rawal earned 22 points on back nine, while Moktan got 16.
Tenzing Tsering won the most birdies award with four birdies, while Rabindra Man Shrestha claimed the closest-to-the-pin award and Dawa J Sherpa bagged the longest drive trophy. A total of 84 golfers took part in the tournament organised by Gorkha Brewery Pvt Ltd.
Marketing Manager of Gorkha Brewery Rojan Amatya, Brand Manager Shraya Shrestha, Communication Manager Sunjuli Singh Kunwar and President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire handed over the prizes to the winners.
After the second event of the series, Bharat Bastakoti is at the top of the nett category table with 150 points, while Tashi Tsering (Dong) is second with 105 points.
Ajaya Bikram Shah is third with 100 points, followed by Maj Nishchaya Jung Rayamajhi (75) and Shyam Simkhada (70).
In gross section, Tashi Tsering (Dong) leads the standing with 150 points while Maj Nischaya Jung Rayamajhi is second with 105. Prithvi Malla and Bharat Bastakoti are joint third with 100 points, while Tashi Tshiring is fifth with 75 points.
