HETAUDA: A provincial Sports Council has been established in Province 3. Member Secretary of the Council along with other members took the oath of office on Tuesday.

Chair of the Council and provincial Minister for Social Development, Yuvaraj Dulal, administered the oath of office to the newly appointed member secretary Surya Lal Bhandari and others. A meeting of the council of ministers, on June 24, had decided to appoint the members into the Council.

Along with congratulating the appointees, Minister Dulal in the programme stated that the Council had much to do in order to materialise various plans. The sports sector faces many challenges, thereby making it essential for the council to minimise them, he further elaborated.

The Minister warned that the Council might face operational struggles in its initial phase. “There are a lot of ill-practices in this sector that we need to get rid of,” said Minister Dulal.

The Council, after getting its full shape, will now move forward by also taking into consideration the players’ self–esteem, he stated. He said that the Council would be successful in developing and taking the sports sector into its golden era.

In the same programme, Member Secretary Bhandari expressed his commitment to the important role he has been entrusted with. He made it clear that the goal of the Council is to bring about tangible development in the sports sector.
