Rajbiraj, June 19
Rupani Riders and TIlathi Koiladi Giant registered victories in the second edition of the Mayor Cup Saptari Premier League here at the Public Bindeshwori School grounds today.
Riders defeated Dakneshwari Dragon by 32 runs for their second victory, while Giants beat Bajaj Khadak Warriors by eight wickets. With their second win, Dragon moved to the top of the table with four points.
Put into bat first, Riders were bowled out for 144 runs in 19.5 overs before restricting Dragon to 112-9. Opener Sonu Ansari top scored for Riders with 44 off just 23 balls that included four each boundaries and sixes, while Anoj Yadav struck five sixes in his 23-ball 36. Skipper Mehboob Alam (16) and Hasim Ansari (15) also chipped in valuable runs.
Dipesh Kandel was the pick of the Dragon bowlers taking 3-26 from four overs, while Pushpa Thapa and Prem Tamang grabbed two wickets each.
In reply, Prem Tamang was the top scorer for Dragon with 18 runs, while Abhinash Karn and Rahul Mandal contributed 15 each. Pradeep Paswan took three wickets for Riders, while man-of-the-match Anoj Yadav and Saidullah Ansari grabbed two wickets each.
In another match, Warriors posted 131-7 in their allotted 20 overs before Giant overcame the total losing just two wickets with 24 balls to spare. Opener Sunil Dhamala scored an unbeaten 84 off just 55 balls hitting 10 fours and two sixes.
Dhamala shared 87-run partnership for the unbroken third wicket with Suraj Patel, who remained unbeaten on 34 runs.
Earlier, Rajesh Pulami scored half century but he ended up in losing side. Pulami struck three each fours and sixes in his runa-ball 50. Amit Das (26), Amal Das (17) and Sudhir Chaudhary (12) also contributed in double figures. Dhamala returned to take two wickets along with Kamal Oli, while Rohit Singh, Anil Yadav and Bikash Das grabbed one wicket each.
