Kathmandu, June 9
Nepal Sports Journalists Forum today signed the sponsorship deal with Kiran Shoes Manufacturers for the Pulsar Sports Award slated for July 2 at Nepal Academy.
NSJF President Durga Nath Subedi and Director (Marketing and Branding) of Kiran Shoes Manufacturers Vidushi Rana signed the memorandum of understanding amidst a press conference.
As per the agreement, Kiran Shoes Manufacturers will provide the NSJF with Rs 1.1 million — Rs 800,000 in cash and Rs 300,000 in kind. In return, GoldStar — the popular product of Kiran Shoes — will be the co-sponsor of the Award in the capacity of ‘Powered By’.
Rana said the company was the proud to become the partner of the award.
“We are happy to contribute in felicitating and encouraging the athletes,” said Rana.
“We take pride to be the No 1 brand in shoes manufacturing and we collaborating with top award is obvious.”
NSJF President Subedi thanked Kiran Shoes for the support and hoped the two-party association would blossom in the days to come.
“We would like to welcome GoldStar on board and are grateful to them for the support in our bid to appreciate and honour the achievements of the sporting heroes,” said Subedi. He also said the Nepali sports needed more support from corporate houses.
The 16th edition of the Award features 10 categories and the winners of male, female, coach and people’s choice will receive Pulsar NS160 motorcycle each. The youth, para-athlete, special, lifetime achievement, team of the year and Asian journalist winners will get Rs 50,000 apiece.
NSJF has already signed the title sponsorship agreement with Hansraj Hulaschand and Company Limited — the authorised distributors of Pulsar motorcycles in Nepal, while National Sports Council, Nepal Olympic Committee, Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd, THT LIVE, Kelme Nepal, Avenues Khabar, Dish Media Network, Royal Singi Hotel, Timex and Emaging are the co-sponsors and partners of the award programme.
