Kathmandu, May 28
Tribhuvan Army Club defeated BMC South Siders Basketball Club and Nepal Police Club beat Times International Club in the Kwiks Nepal Basketball League here today.
Robin Khatri led TAC to a 92-71 victory over South Siders for their 11th victory which put them within a point of leaders Times, who suffered their second straight loss going down 70-63 at the hands of another departmental side, NPC.
Times are still at the top of the table with 24 points from 13 matches, while TAC are second with 23 from 12 games. With their seventh victory, NPC are tied for third on 20 points with Budanilkhantha Municipality Basketball Club. Golden Gate International Club are fifth with 18 points, followed by South Siders (13), ANK Kritipur Basketball Team (12), and Royal Basketball Club (11).
TAC opened up with a 25- 15lead and never looked back against South Siders. The departmental side won 27-20 in the second quarter before South Siders hit back winning the third period 24-19. TAC then took the final quarter 21-12 to seal the victory.
Khatri top scored for TAC with 21 points, nine assists, three rebounds and two steals.
In another match, NPC took a seven-point lead winning the first quarter 17-10 and extended the lead to 12 points after they won the second quarter 20-15. Times won the third period 16-10 but it was too late for them to stage a comeback. NPC then took the final quarter 23-22. Khaled Mehmud Akash of NPC was named the player of the match for his 20 points along with 12 rebounds and two assists.
