Batting first, APF posted 288-9 in their allotted 50 overs, while Province-3 could reach 247-9 despite brilliant century from Gyanendra Malla.

APF failed to make desired start after skipper Prithu Baskota elected to bat first and they were reduced to 35-3 inside seven overs after Sharad Vesawkar (12), Aasif Sheikh (seven) and Shankar Rana (one) fell cheaply.

Pradeep Singh Airee and Sumit Maharjan steadied the innings with a 75-run partnership for the fourth wicket. After Airee departed for 40 off 63 balls hitting four boundaries and a six, Maharjan combined with skipper Baskota to add 98 runs for the fifth wicket.

Maharjan missed the century by just six runs after he was run out by Sonu Devkota in the 40th over.
