England will yomp into this summer’s home World Cup with chests puffed out and optimism aplenty after a 54-run win over Pakistan at Headingley wrapped up a convincing 4-0 series scoreline.

There are still warm-up matches against Australia and Afghanistan to be negotiated – and a final squad to be revealed on Tuesday– but, last month’s Alex Hales affair aside, Eoin Morgan could scarcely have wished for a better build-up towards the main event.
