Kathmandu, April 22
Dinesh Prajapati and Jayaram Shrestha shared the lead after the first round of the Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.
Prajapati and Shrestha carded two-under 70 in the eighth event under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2018- 19. Prajapati carded two-under 34 with the help of birdies on the seventh and ninth holes. He then saved pars on all nine holes to play even-par 36 on the back nine. Shrestha also carded birdies on the fourth and sixth holes to take the turn at two-under 34. He saved shots on the 13th and 14th before facing bogeys on the 17th and 18th holes to finish the back nine at even-par 36.
Rabi Khadka was further one stroke behind at one-under 71, while Shiva Kumar Majhi and Bikash Adhikari shared the fourth position at evenpar 72. Deepak Acharya, Bhuwan Nagarkoti, and amateur Tanka Bahadur Karki were tied for sixth at one-over 73. Rame Magar, Pradeep Kumar Lama, Surya Prasad Sharma, and amateur Bipin Tamang carded two-over 74 each, while Sanjay Lama and Deepak Magar shot three-over 75.
In all, 42 pros and eight amateur golfers are taking part in the event that carries a purse of Rs 661,500. Top three pros will earn Rs 120,000, Rs 77,000 and Rs 55,000 respectively.
