Shree Koteshwor Setiopi Youth Club is organising the Setiopi Inter-school Football Tournament at the Modern Indian School grounds from June 2-9.
In all, 10 teams will participate in the league-cum-knockout tournament, informed organisers at a press meet today. The participating teams are divided into two groups and top two sides after the league round will advance to the semi-finals, said tournament coordinator Shashi Rimal.
“The tournament is a platform for young footballers to showcase their talents,” said Rimal. “May be we can find a player who can go ahead and become a star footballer in future,” he added.
Modern Indian School, DAV School, KMC School, Kasthamandap, Laboratory HS School, Grammar Public HS School, Puspasadan School, Rato Bangala, Kanjirowa HS School and Columbus HS School are the teams taking part in the eight-day tournament.
President of Setiopi Club, Ravi Rimal thanked the sponsors and co-sponsors for their generous support in the tournament. “We do not have big sponsors with us but we are grateful to all those who have extended their support to the club for organising this event,” he added.
Nepal Aluminium is the main sponsor of the tournament, while Grammar Public HS School, Kantipur Hospital, Modern Indian School, Redbull and Carmandu Motors are the co-sponsors. Top two teams will receive trophies and medals, while the best player of the tournament will earn scholarship worth Rs 20,000 from Grammar Public HS School.
