Tirtha Pun of Indian Army and Kanchhi Maya Koju of Nepal APF Club won the titles of the Dharan 10K Run here today.
Pun won the men’s section title for the fourth consecutive time, while Koju won the race for the second time. Pun finished the 10km race in 31 minutes and 16 seconds to finish first ahead of Anish Thapa (31:22) and Tribhuvan Army Club athlete Gajendra Rai (31:35).
In women’s section, Koju took 37:48 to finish the race in first spot. Santoshi Shrestha of Kathmandu was second with 38:18 ahead of Pushpa Bhandari (38:47) of APF. Top three athletes in both categories received Rs 40,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.
Likewise, Rodan Rai won the U-12 title, while Anish Khadka came second and Ashok Tamang was third in boys’ section. Smriti, Laxmi Bhujel and Prakriti Bhujel claimed top three spots respectively in girls’ category. Also, Naresh Budha, Prabin Kumar Bohara and Kiran Limbu won top three positions respectively in boys’ U-16 race, while Manisha Rai, Chandrakala Bhujel and Sangita Tamang did so in girls’ section.
In above-40 veteran race, Dharma Maharjan came first ahead of Nirmal Rai and Mangal Tamang in men’s section, while Rita Rai, Bhim Maya Rai and Ganga Gurung claimed top three spots in women’s category. Top three athletes in age-category and veteran sections received Rs 7,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively.
