RAMECHHAP: Gandaki Province won the title of the Manthali Mayor Cup Ramechhap Championship here on Sunday. Gandaki defeated Namunadeep Youth Club 25-22, 25-21, 25- 18 in the final of the fourth edition of the men’s volleyball tournament.
Also, Shantideep Youth Club beat Province1 25-23, 20-25, 25-15, 23-25, 16-14 in the five-set thriller to finish third. Top four teams earned Rs 300,000, Rs 200,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. Gandaki skipper Hari Pandey was declared the player of the series and he earned Rs 15,000. Gandaki also dominated the individual awards winning four titles — Raj Kumar Gurung (coach), Rajan Darlami (libero), Sujan Chokhal (lifter) and Baliram Chaudhary (blocker).
Kul Bahadur Thapa of Namunadeep and Pratap Khawas of Shantideep were named the best spiker and server respectively. Provincial Minister for Financial Affairs and Planning Kailash Prasad Dhungel and Manthali Municipality Mayor Ramesh Basnet among others handed over the prizes to winners of the tournament organised by Ramechhap District Sports Development Committee.
