Signature Manang Marshyangdi Club defeated 10-man Brigade Boys Club 5-4 on penalties to advance to the semi-finals of the sixth Manakamana Cable Car Pokhara Cup here at the Pokhara Stadium today.
In the fourth and final quarter-final match of the tournament, Ritik Khadka put BBC ahead in the 15th minute when he dodged two defenders before slotting home from penalty box.
The ball took a slight deflection to the post before kissing the nets.
The Pulsar Martyrs Memorial A Division League champions MMC were made to wait until 67th minute to level the scores. Bimal Rana scored from close range
following a pass from Afeez Olawale.
BBC were reduced to 10 men in the 88th minute after goalkeeper Lucky Kumar Karki got the red card for collecting the ball outside the penalty box at a time when Olawale was marching towards the goal. But MMC failed to capitalise on numerical advantage and no team could score in the added time.
In penalty shootout, MMC goalkeeper Bishal Shrestha saved the first attempt from Padam Bhattarai and that turned out to be the way for his side into the last four. MMC skipper Sujal Shrestha, Hemanta Gurung, Kamal Shrestha, Prakash Budhathoki and Suraj Bishwokarma converted their kicks from the spot. For BBC, Randip Paudel, Suraj Thakuri, Jay Gurung and Manoj Rai scored from the spot. MMC custodian Shrestha was declared the man of the match.
On Thursday, Nepal APF Club will play against Rissho University of Japan in the first semi-final match of the tournament.
