• Chants said to have occurred during FA Cup win over Everton
• Comes after man suffers slash wound during pre-game clashes
The Football Association has launched an investigation into reports of racist chanting during Millwall’s dramatic FA Cup fourth-round victory over Everton, a contest that had already been somewhat overshadowed by violent clashes that occurred prior to kick-off at the New Den and resulted in a man suffering a slash wound to the face.
Videos posted on social media appear to show Millwall fans using highly offensive words during their team’s 3-2 win on Saturday evening. That has led to action on the part of the FA, which in turn could result in Millwall being fined and/or forced to play a number of games, including their fifth-round tie, behind closed doors.
