Kakarvitta Football Training Centre advanced to the semi-finals of the Madan Bhandari Memorial International Invitational Itahari Gold Cup here today.

Kakarvitta beat Dauphins Football Club of Cameroon 4-3 in tie breaker in the inaugural match at Itahari Stadium. The match was decided on penalties after a goalless draw in regulation period. Kakarvitta will face the winners of the match between Ruslan Three Star Club and Tribhuvan Army Club.

Nirajan Khadka, Bikash Rai, Niraj Basnet and Dip Karki scored from the spot for Kakarvitta, while Bhushan Limbu’s attempt was blocked by Dauphins goalie Mouwa Madu. Najma Yanik, Bikbik and Yannick Ohana converted their kicks for the Cameroon team, while Kakarvitta goalkeeper Dip Karki saved shots from Joe Angola and Armel Ahanda.

Kakarvitta goalkeeper Dip Karki — who scored one and saved two in penalty shootout — was named the man of the match and he earned Rs 10,000.
