KATHMANDU: Nepal Wado-ryu Karate Do Association felicitated international medal winning karatekas here on Tuesday.
Bik Bhadur Thami had bagged gold medal in 12th Nishimura International Karate in Japan, while Rimala Rai and Purushottam Pokharel had claimed silver and bronze respectively. Similarly, Chitra Prasad Shrestha, Alone Shrestha, Kuisang Lama, Mingmar Lama, Sushmita Waiba, Sajan Dong, Sagar Chaulagain, Nawaraj Puri, Yuvaraj Puri and Ramita Majhi had won gold medals in the Asian Open Kumite Tournament in India, while Sujan Malla had bagged silver.
Nepal had finished runners-up in the tournament. Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Sunar, National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista and NWKDA President Hari Sharan KC feted the players along with team manager Netra Bahadur Bhujel. Meanwhile, the KC informed NWKDA was organising the third International Karate Tournament in Kathmandu from May 13.
Around 500 players from nine countries will take part in the two-day tournament that features 37 events. — HNS
