Martyrs Memorial A Division League

Kathmandu, January 6

Ruslan Three Star Club defeated Himalayan Sherpa Club 2-0 and finished third in the Pulsar Martyrs Memorial A Division League here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.

Buddha Raj Limbu and Ranjan Bista scored one goal each for Three Star, who accumulated 26 points from 13 matches. Three Star ended the campaign with eight wins, two draws and three defeats.

Signature Manang Marshyangdi Club and CMG Club Sankata have already claimed the top two spots respectively in the league.

Limbu put Three Star ahead in the 28th minute when he found the back of the nets following a pass from Ranjan Bista. The provider turned into the scorer two minutes before the end when Bista controlled a long pass from Ranjit Dhimal before slotting home from the penalty area to score in sixth goal of the league.

Sherpa had a chance to take the lead in the first half but Three Star goalkeeper Alan Neupane made a brilliant save to deny Tridev Gurung.

Sherpa came close to levelling the scores in the stroke of half an hour and they failed to beat the Neupane hurdle for the second time. Neupane made a brilliant dive to save a shot from Ulrich Sibe. The Three Star custodian then denied Karna Limbu two minutes before the break.

In another match, Tribhuvan Army Club hammered Machhindra Football Club 3-0 to finish fourth in the league.

Skipper Bharat Khawas scored a brace, while Tanka Basnet netted one for the Armymen. TAC finished fourth with 25 points from 13 matches.

TAC won a total of seven games, played two draw and lost four matches.

Basnet opened the scoring in the 29th minute to put TAC ahead in the first half.

The armyman Khawas then struck twice in the second half to ensure team’s victory. He doubled the tally in the 62nd minute and completed the scoring in the 73rd minute when he scored from the spot.

Brigade Boys Club (nine), NIBL Friends Club (nine), Machhindra (seven) and New Road Team (six) are the bottom four clubs in the 14-team standing but the final round results will not affect the clubs much as the league does not have the provision of relegation.
