KATHMANDU: Signature Manang Marsyangdi Club continued its unbeaten run to 12 games in a row and CMG Sankata Club clinched the runner-up title with a game to spare in the ongoing Pulsar Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League in Kathmandu today.
CMG Sankata Club defeated Three Star Club 2-1 at ANFA Complex Ground and MMC beat Himalayan Sherpa Club by the same scoreline at the APF’s Halchowk Ground.
With the second spot at stake, TSC’s Ranjan Bista broke the deadlock in half-hour mark before SC’s Amit Tamang equalised from the penalty kick in the 43rd minute.
Amit Tamang scored his brace from the spot in the 64th minute to give his team all three valuable points and five points lead over TSC with a game to spare in the league.
Later, SC’s Amit Tamang won the man of the match award and bagged a cash purse of Rs 10,000.
MMC’s foreign recruit Afeez Olawale opened the scoring in the 36th minute before HSC’s Bishwash Shrestha struck a chicky chip over the goalie to equalise on the stroke of halftime.
MMC’s Bishal Rai notched a goal as Dipak Rai supplied an inch-perfect cross in the box after good work down the left flank on the hour mark.
Moments later, MMC’s Muhammed Asif was shown a straight red card for a bad tackle and HSC’s Bishwash Shrestha was sent off for two bookable offences. Both the teams, MMC and HSC were reduced to 10-men in the 70th minute of second half.
Later, HSC’s Rabi Thapa Magar was declared man of the match.
