Lalitpur, January 1
Nepal APF Club thrashed Nepal Police Club in the departmental derby, while Saraswati Youth Club defeated Valley Chyasal Youth Club 2-1 in the Pulsar Martyrs Memorial A Division League here today.
Yubraj Khadka scored a brace for APF and Rajendra Rawal and Hari Karki netted one each, while Ajit Prajapati scored the consolation goal for NPC. With their sixth win of the league, APF moved to fifth position with 20 points, while NPC remained at sixth with 18 points from 12 matches.
Rawal put APF ahead in the 20th minute when he slotted home from the edge of the penalty box following a pass from Sudip Shikhrakar.
Karki doubled the advantage eight minutes later. Fed by Shyam Nepali inside the six-yard box, the unmarked Karki found the back of the nets on one-touch strike.
Khadka made it 3-0 in the 43rd minute after he headed home following a long free kick from Shikhrakar. Prajapati cut the deficit in the first half injury time when he scored from close after Tej Tamang headed the ball into the box on Ravi Paswan’s cross.
Khadka then scored his second goal of the match six minutes before the end. Fed by Shyam Nepali inside the box, Khadka controlled the ball before slotting home.
Earlier, Saraswati produced the winner in the fifth minute of the injury time to register their fourth victory in the league. Chyasal took an early lead when Sajin Thapa Magar found the back of the nets in the 14th minute but they failed to hold on the lead for the last four minutes and conceded twice to lose the match.
Manish Thapa levelled the scores in the 86th minute, while Francis Onyeama scored the winning goal for Saraswati in the fifth minute of the second half injury time.
Despite the loss, Chyasal remained at the eighth position with 15 points from 12 matches, while Saraswati moved up to ninth with 13 points.
