Bharat Thapa Magar and Ashmita Shrestha won the titles of the Annual Caddie Competition here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.
Thapa Magar defeated Narayan Chaulagain and Krishna Murari Sapkota in playoff to lift the men’s section trophy. The match was decided on the first extra hole after the three players were tied at nine-over 81. Thapa Magar finished first with a par on the 10th hole, while Chaulagain had a bogey and Sapkota fared even worse.
Thapa Magar received Rs 11,000 along with the trophy, while second-placed Chaulagain and Sapkota got Rs 7,250 each. Suman Nepal was fourth at 11-over 83 and he earned Rs 5,000, while defending champion Bishnu Bhandari shared the fifth position with Ashoke Lama at 13-over 84. They got Rs 4,250 each. Suresh Shrestha, Dharma Poudel, Bibek Parajuli and Balaram Poudel finished in top 10 and they earned Rs 3,500, Rs 3,300, Rs 3,100 and Rs 2,900 respectively.
In women’s section, Shrestha won the title with the score of 25 and she earned Rs 4,000 along with trophy and gift hamper. Urmila Nagarkoti came second with the score of 29 and she got Rs 2,000. Anu Gurung was third with the score of 31 and she received Rs 1,500.
A total of 25 caddies took part in the men’s section which was played over 18 holes under stroke play format, while four women caddies played over four holes. Senior Golf Director of Gokarna Forest Resort Deepak Acharya and professional golfer Pashupati Sharma handed over the prizes to the winners of the annual competition.
