Pemba Sherpa won the Laxmi Bank Open Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.
Played under stableford ¾ handicap format, the eight-handicap amateur golfer accumulated 39 points to win the trophy. Rabindra Man Shrestha finished second with 38 points.
Tashi Tsering won the gross section title with 37 points and he also bagged the most birdies award with six birdies — on the first, third, fourth, sixth, ninth and 16th holes. Likewise, Kye Hee Lee lifted the women’s section trophy with 34 points, and Sadbhav Acharya was the best among junior golfers with 31 points.
Also, Bijay Bahadur Shrestha won the senior section title with 36 points, while Pavitra Kumar Karki bagged the guest section trophy with 36 points. Rishab Acharya won the longest drive award and Pasang Sherpa claimed the closest-to-the-pin title. No golfer could win the Hole-in-one prize of Hyundai IONIQ electric car.
A total of 92 golfers participate in the tournament. Chairman of Laxmi Bank Shambhu Prasad Acharya, CEO Ajay Shah, President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire and Captain Joseph Nathan gave away prizes to the winners.
