LALITPUR: The Youth Athletes Coaching Camp organised by Sports Science Academy of Nepal concluded here on Monday.
A total of 72 players, who had finished first in their respective categories in the last three editions of the President Running Shield, from four sports disciplines — taekwondo, karate, wushu and athletics — took part in the 10-day training camp.
Coaches Gangaram Maharjan and Kushal Shrestha trained the karate players, while Nabin Kumar Shrestha and Hira Thapa conducted the taekwondo camp. Likewise, Chandra Gurung, Dhaniram Chaudhary, Rakesh Bajracharya and Padma Chaudhary were the athletics coaches, while Gopal Shrestha and Prakash Maharjan conducted wushu training.
Among the participants, Anish Lama and Bimala Nepal were declared the best players in karate, while Prabin Lama and Asmita Shrestha were adjudged the best players in wushu. Likewise, Shailesh Giri and Ayasha Lama (taekwondo) and Bikash Khand Thakuri and Jaya Rani Tharu (athletics) were named the best players.
All eight best players received Rs 3,000 each. National Sports Council Treasurer Shailesh Karmacharya, SAN Director Nabin Upreti, and National Team Preparation Director Arjun BK among others handed over the certificates to the participants.
