KATHMANDU: Niru Thapa has been chosen as the captain of the Nepali women’s national football team, All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has stated.
ANFA, the football governing body of the country, said that Thapa has been given captaincy of the women’s football team that is on a visit to China for playing friendly matches there.
This is the first time Thapa has shouldered the responsibility of captain of the national women’s team. She had been playing from the Nepal Police Club team in home matches.
Renuka Nagarkoti was Thapa’s predecessor as the captain of women’s football team.
The Nepali team will play three friendly matches in China before leaving for Myanmar. Nepal is also preparing for the Olympics qualifiers.
