KATHMANDU: Chyasal football club spurned sting of chances including a spot-kick and played a 0-0 draw against Machhindra during Martyr’s Memorial National League at ANFA Complex in Satdobato, Lalitpur, today.
Machhindra goalie Deep Karki spectacularly thwarted Hemanta Thapa Magar’s penalty kick in the 75th minute of the game and propelled his team to snatch a valuable point against a quality opponent.
Chyasal’s national team striker Bimal Gharti Magar was hauled in the box before Hemanta stepped up to take the kick.
In the first half, Chyasal nearly took lead as Bishow Adhikari ferocious hit cannoned off the woodwork in the 7th minute of the game. However, both the teams failed to broke deadlock in the first half.
After the break, both the teams came out all guns blazing, but Chyasal created many goal-scoring chances but to no avail. Machhindra rearguard thwarted Chyasal moves at ease and hung on to clinch a valuable point.
Later, MFC Bikash Rai was adjudged as man of the match.
According to ANFA General Secretary Indraman Tuladhar, two matches will be played tomorrow.
In the first match, Friends Club will take on Ruslan Three Star Club at ANFA Complex on sharp 11 am, and in the next fixture, Jawalakhel Youth Club will play against Nepal Police Club at the same venue on 3 pm.
