Sunsari, February 10

The opening match of the 21st Red Bull Budha Subba Gold Cup between CMG Club Sankata and Mechi Netralaya Kakarvitta Football Training Centre has been postponed for Monday after the players complained of low light.

The teams were tied at 9-9 in sudden death after 11 kicks each and the organisers decided to postpone the match due to low visibility at the Dharan Stadium.

The match will resume from the same position on Monday.

Earlier, the match went to tie-breaker after both the teams were deadlocked at 2-2 in the regulation period.

Both the teams scored four goals each in five penalties and the match entered the sudden death.

The teams went neck-toneck and are tied at nine-all after 11 attempts each.

Earlier, Karna Limbu put Kakarvitta ahead in the 30th minute after he converted the free kick from 30 yards out into a sensational goal. Sankata scored the equaliser in the 60th minute when Jay Gurung found the back of the nets following a pass from Cedric Aba.

Kakarvitta restored the lead through Pujan Uprakoti’s goal following a corner from Karna Limbu before Dipesh Ale Magar levelled the scores on a pass from Laxman Ruchal in the injury time to take the match into tie-breaker.

While the remaining part of the first quarter-final will be played on Monday morning, the second semi-final in afternoon pits Nepal Police Club and Sahara Club of Pokhara.
